Ev Outsmarts Her Dad

Evelyn is not potty trained. BUT we did purchase Elmo undies that she does not want to get wet. Her she is relaxing and watching a Sesame Street video podcast on my ipod. The irony is that she is not potty trained but she knows how to move from one podcast to another on the ipod while her father is potty trained but cannot more from one podcast to another on the ipod.

Sister time

Preparation for Halloween has begun! The costume decision is final. Evelyn's costume is 90% complete. Now I have to start in on Hannah's. Sewing takes me a bit of time.
The are working on a Halloween drawing to mail off to Nana and Granddad.

Hannah likes to read and Evelyn likes to listen and suck her thumb.

Evelyn "helps"

The snow is here and now we get to have some real fun. The question is why does she have the large snow scoop and Mom has the small kid shovel? She is having a great time getting up some speed.

Flashback to Green

Time to do a flashback to greener weather. Here is Hannah back in August on the first day of second grade at Woodriver School. The gigantic backpack she picked out herself.

Off she goes. We are allowed to walk in with her on the first day. But usually I just have to wave from the curb and watch her go .....

First field trip of the year is the Alaska Bird Observatory at Creamer's Field. As if she doesn't go there enough. But during the field trip she learns from the specialists about bird migration.

More on school. Hannah participated in cross country running club at Woodriver elementary. We have an excellent PE teacher that volunteered her time to enable the school to participate. Practice was on Tuesdays and meets on Thursdays during the month of September.

Several schools (8 -10) take part in the meet. That is a lot of kids from grade K-8. Here is a shot down the stadium at Birch Hill to the starting line way in the distance.

Here they come up the hill. This race is for grade K-2 and is coed. Course length is almost 1.5 miles.

The women in the green shirt, on the bike, leads the way so the kids know which way to go. We mark the trail well but they are little kids after all. The bike rider just happens to be a former x-cross country skiing Olympian and is 7 months pregnant. Now she is a pied piper.

Here they are!
For those folks in Arizona and Buffalo if the scenery looks familiar it should since this is the location where we take ski lessons.

Hannah has made it up the hill. Look at those legs fly.

Hannah successfully completes the course. The best thing is ....yep she's tired and will be going to bed at 8pm.
